Basic travel bag

    If you are travelling with children, you must of course take all necessary paediatric items.

    1/ Hygienic products :
    - Band-aids, cotton, bandages, support bandages (useful for sprains), gauze (for burns), sterile compresses (2 x 5), safety pins, small scissors and tweezers.
    - Soap, antiseptic and disinfectant.
    - Analgesics, antipyretic drugs (paracetamol resists the heat better than acetylsalicylic acid) and an unbreakable thermometer.
    - Oral contraceptives, condoms, and menstrual protection.
    - Eye baths, eye drops, a stock of disposable contact lenses, glasses if you wear contacts, or a second pair of glasses if case you lose the first pair.
    - High UV-protection sunscreen, lip salve, sunglasses (or snow goggles), and cream for burns.

    2/ Essential for the tropics :
    - Preventive treatment against malaria adapted to your destination, health and activities.
    - Mosquito repellent (Products with 50% DEET are unsuitable for children under 10 and pregnant women, whereas products with 30% EHD are unsuitable for babies under 1 and pregnant women), and mosquito nets treated with insecticides (depending on your trip).
    - Drinking water disinfectant. Beware: disinfected water cannot be consumed straight away, please read the instructions.
     

 

 Travel bag extra essentials

    This travel pack includes the above-mentioned products in the “basic travel bag” plus those listed below (please consult your doctor before leaving and keep your prescription with you) :

      - Mosquito repellent spray,
      - Sunscreen,
      - Drugs for aches and pains (aspirin, etc.),
      - Vitamin supplements,
      - Medicine for diarrhoea,
      - Travel-sickness medicine (where necessary),
      - Homeoplasmine (or equivalent),
      - Flovaquine against malaria,
      - Anti-diarrhoea treatment with intestinal slower and disinfectant,
      - Anti-spasm treatment in the case of digestive or abdominal pain,
      - Anti-vomiting treatment in the case of travel-sickness or vomiting,
      - Antihistaminic treatment in the case of allergies,
      - Antipruritic treatment in the case of itching,
      - Anti-inflammatory cream,
      - Prescribed antibiotic treatment suited to various infections,
      - Curative treatment against malaria for long or isolated stays. An anti-malaria treatment without medical advice will only be used as a last resort (no medical care possible within 12 hours). Treatment must always be carried out in compliance with the prescribing doctor’s instructions.

    N.B. : All these products must of course be stored in a dark and dry place.

    This travel pack can be condensed or expanded depending on the length and location of your stay.

 

 Products unsuitable for travelling

    - Soluble or effervescent drugs, because if you don’t have any water on you, you can’t take them.
    - Suppositories tend to melt in hot countries.
    - Perfume attracts insects and thus mosquitoes
